Call Centre Workers

Call centre workers and union organizing is the topic of a lecture hosted by the Labour History in New Brunswick Community-University Research Alliance at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton on Thursday, Nov. 2.

The presentation will be held at 4 p.m. in Room 5 of Tilley Hall on the UNBF campus. All are welcome to attend.

Julie Guard, a professor in the Labour Studies Program at the University of Manitoba, is the guest speaker. Dr. Guard will discuss her research on union organizing drives in the booming Manitoba call centre industry. She suggests that female service sector workplaces need different organizing strategies than those once used successfully with male industrial workers.
